Privacy notice
Last updated 2026-10-31. This text is general and will be revised as the service develops.
This notice says what Vidvat keeps about you and why. Birth details are personal, so we keep only what the service needs.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, a scrambled (hashed) form of your password, when you joined, and when you accepted the terms.
- The profiles you add: name, date, time and place of birth, gender if you choose to set it, the calculation settings you pick, and anything you record against a profile (for example dated events and your own notes).
- Technical records: a sign-in cookie, and the short-lived codes we email you.
What we use it for
To work out and show your charts and readings, to sign you in, to send you the codes you ask for, and to keep the service safe. We do not sell your details and we do not use them for advertising.
Access by Vidvat
Vidvat has access to the basic details saved in accounts: the email address, and the birth details and notes saved in the profiles. We use them to run and look after the service, to help when you ask, and to study how the readings perform so that the app can be made better, including for academic purposes.
Who else handles it
- The site is hosted on Vercel and its database is held with Neon. They store and process the data for us.
- Emails (confirmation and reset codes) are sent through Resend.
- Place names for the birth-place search come from the open GeoNames data, which is searched on your own device and sends nothing about you.
These providers may keep data in other countries. When AI readings are added, this notice will be updated before any of your details are sent to an AI service.
Cookies
We use one cookie, to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices
- You can see and change your profiles in the service, and export a profile as a chart file.
- You can delete your account and all your profiles from the Account page. This removes them from our database.
- You can ask us to correct or erase your data, or ask what we hold, using the contact below.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Sign-in sessions end after 30 days, and email codes after 15 minutes.
Children
The service is for adults. Add a child's birth details only if you are their parent or guardian.

We may update this notice as the service develops. The date above shows the current version.
