About Vidvat
Vidvat is a Vedic (sidereal) astrology service. It works out a birth chart from the date, time and place you give, and reads it the way an astrologer reads it, showing the working so that you can check it.
What it offers
- Astrologer's Workbench: a quick read for an astrologer, with two charts side by side, a transit chart, the panchang and the dasha. No account is needed.
- Personal Reading: a first look at your own chart in plain words.
- Astrologer's Suite: the full technical bench: divisional charts, planetary strengths with the working shown, many dasha systems, special points and muhurta.
- Family Horoscopes: the household read together, and two charts matched for marriage.
How the readings are made
Positions, houses, dashas and strengths are calculated from the birth details with the ayanamsa and chart style you choose. The calculations are checked against an independent open-source astrology library. The readings apply traditional rules from the classical texts, and each reading says which rule it used, so an astrologer can follow it step by step.
What a reading can and cannot tell you
- A reading describes how a chart and its periods are read by astrological rules. It does not predict events, and it is not guaranteed to be right.
- It is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.
- A chart depends on the birth details given. A wrong date, time or place gives a wrong chart, and some readings cannot be made at all without the time of birth.
